Where to begin?
My fondness for boats and fishing began about 73 years ago and I have owned
many. Upon arriving from the waste lands of Ontario with my son in 2017 one of
our first projects was to find a boat in the 17 to 19 foot range that would serve as
a fresh and salt water platform for his young family to enjoy our new and
beautiful Province.
I had long since abandoned the drudgery of fibreglass boats with their rotting
floors, saturated foam flotation and endless polishing. I hate to think of the
wasted hours spent replacing floors, transoms and of course the constant need to
polish gel coat from top to bottom and end to end. Aluminum was the only way to
go for us.
But which aluminum boat? Since we are very particular about our boats we
searched high and low for the best make and model. We kicked the “tires” on just
about everything available on the island and mainland. Having owned a couple of
Crestliners we knew the level of fit and finish we wanted but we needed
something to take advantage of the ocean waters. Lake boats weren’t going to cut
it.
Most of the vessels we looked at were nice enough but nothing stood out in
terms of utility, welds or design. Some weren’t very good at all. We kept looking
until my son’s co-worker, a long time resident of Sooke, suggested we look at a
Silver Streak. A weird name for a boat I thought at the time but it certainly isn’t.
We were absolutely blown away by the quality we saw. Our search ended right
there and then. Here was a boat that stood head and shoulders above everything
we had seen, had every feature and option we wanted for our family and was
locally made by a long term builder. We immediately put in an order for our Race
Rocks…..
We added a couple of custom features and took delivery in June of 2018. Do we
have any regrets? Not one. The more we use it the more we love it and we do
love it. Everything about this boat seems designed to fit our needs like a glove,
everything seems to be in exactly the right place and every aspect of Streak’s

workmanship has exceeded our wildest dreams. And, very importantly, unlike the
other boat choices, we got to choose the engine manufacturer we wanted and we
wanted two stroke performance. Our Streak is up and gone to the fishing grounds
or beach faster than all the four stroke boys. It’s an absolute flier and it’s stable
no matter what you are doing in it. On our lake or on the ocean we have a
marvelous boat in every respect we can think of. Thank you Silver Streak.

I just wanted to thank Silver Streak for a great job in building us a new 30′ water taxi that was delivered on time, with no defects and in a clean, turn key condition.

I took the boat out for its first run in all but ideal sea conditions, and I must say I was very impressed with the performance of the hull in tough seas, as well as the maneuverability.  The boat has exceeded my expectations in performance and the well designed layout makes the cabin and cockpit space very roomy which is a great feature.

I would have no problem recommending Silver Streak to others.

I want to also thank Travis at Boatland for his great work on managing this build from the buyer’s perspective, taking time to ensure we were constantly updated and on schedule for the build process.

Put her in and cruised from Campbell River across Sutil Channel for a trip to Savary Island today. Made the crossing in 35 minutes and the boat performed flawlessly! (Wife) loves it and so do I. Thanks. Also, I think the 60 E-tec is perfect for our needs – not too big, not too small.

I had lots of fun and you helped my family make the decision for that 21 foot special edition phantom to be our future boat. I also would like to thank the receptionist who’s name I didn’t get for the hat. That is my favorite hat and have already had tons of comments on it. As owner/operator of Trailhead Resort I would like to give you the straight goods on Silver Streak Boats. We fish the west coast of Vancouver Island on the open Pacific ocean, May through Oct. We travel up to and over 100 miles each day in search of the best Halibut and Salmon fishing off the coast. Think about that, 100 miles daily, wild open water, earning a living not pleasure cruising. We require not only tough boats. we need comfortable boats for our guests, we need fast efficient boats that do the job well and leave us enough energy to do that job again the next day. There are other welded boats out there, and there sure as hell are cheaper boats out there. but we know our boats can take it day in and day out, they look great and they wash up easy. Our boats are by far the nicest charter vessels in our community and we would be going backwards if we were to try a different product. You don’t want a boat that looks like a high school shop project, or worse yet one that is mass produced and not built to last, You want something special that is going to last you year after year, a hot looking welded boat with great finishing work, something you can use and abuse and still comes up looking and working good. We have been beating the crap out of Silver Streak’s for 10 years now and we still fish our first boat from them and just bought another from them this year. Personally as a businessman Silver Streak is a good investment, as a lover of cool quality toys Silver Streak is a great investment.

The Silver Streak 17’ Hard Top Runabout is a first class boat, perfect for B.C.’s coastal waters. From the initial quote to the launch of the boat, the Silver Streak team was a pleasure to deal with.

Buying a larger power boat after retirement without previously owning anything much bigger than a row boat was an intimidating prospect. We really needed a lot of advice from Silver Streak staff throughout the process and we appreciate their patience in answering our many questions. Delivery of the boat to the marina where we now moor it by Silver Streak with a familiarization cruise has helped ease us into operating the boat.
