Yes Bay Lodge has been owned by the Hack Family since 1977 when Art and Marlys Hack purchased the property and building and transformed it into one of the first Premier Fishing Lodge's in SE Alaska. The Lodge was operated by Art and Marlys for many years then, their sons Bill and Kevin took over the operation. Bill ran the Lodge from 1996 to 2005 while his brother Kevin focused his efforts in town running the air operation Promech. In 2005 Kevin and his family took over the Lodge operation and continue to this day. Most recently the day to day operation of the Lodge is handled by Kevin's Daughter Nicky and her Husband Ryan. With Nicky continuing to handle the Chef's duties at the Lodge and Ryan as the General Manager. Kevin still oversees the operation. The Hack family tradition continues.
"New in 2014 we started replacing our fleet of boats and we now have 5 aluminum, hardtop boats for your fishing comfort. They are custom built for us and the ultimate 2 person fishing machine.
Word from the Lodge they are comfortable, fast and plenty fishy!! Look for some more pictures of them in action later in the season - they are too busy out catching fish for new pictures! I have been promised I will have them before this goes live!"
Built for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, this Silver Streak boat will be apart of Biological Research along the West Coast as a dive boat. When not in use, she will sit aboard the "Vector" as seen in this photo.
The DFO has also recently added a 2015 - 21'-0" Silver Streak Runabout Soft top to their fleet of research vessels aboard the Vector. See these boats in Nanaimo, BC doing the great work they do.
